One afternoon Alana (a fictitious name) opened the door to the mobile ultrasound unit. She wanted an ultrasound. She indicated on her paperwork that she was considering an abortion. After a positive pregnancy test, we took her back for an ultrasound.
During the ultrasound, we saw Alana's baby reach up to scratch her head.
When a young woman sees her baby through an ultrasound, the reality that she is carrying an unborn child hits. And tears star flowing. Especially if the child was unplanned. And that is what happened this afternoon. The young woman who was tough, and maybe a little hard, just melted.
As we continued to talk, Alana told me that she had an abortion scheduled for the following morning. She left that afternoon without telling me what she was going to do. But, she did give me permission to contact her.
As I was texting her that evening, she told me that when she saw her little baby reach up and scratch her head, she knew she could not take the life of her unborn child. Several months later, I had the pleasure of holding Alana's baby girl in my arms.
Many times the women who come to us are desperate. They feel they have no other choice but to end their pregnancy. But, once they realize that there is a baby developing in their womb, they look for another option. And we are there to help them with real resources.
Lives are saved at HOPE Pregnancy Resource Center. This child, as well as others are alive because people like you have generously donated funds to support us. If you would like to be part of this life-saving work, we could use your help!
